The 2012 China's international jewellery exhibition kicks off in conference and exhibition center in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong province, on May 25.

Exhibitors from over 20 countries and region participate in the event.

Overseas buyers from United States, France, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Russia and Thailand have been invited to the exhibition.

Shandong is the largest source and consumer of jewellery among other provinces in China. The output gold and gem rank first in China. The total jewellery consumption in the province is over 3 billion yuan ($472.8 million).

Qingdao is the largest precious metals processing area in northern China.
