The 20th Qingdao International Beer Festival headquarters declared that they would hold the festival in the beer city, However, they plan to make changes to the festival at the same time as it is being held. Headquarters requested to increase the reuse of waste resources, firmly establish conservation, and green technology awareness, while utilizing environmental protection concepts throughout the festival.

The mobile toilets used in this festival will undoubtedly become a new bright spot in the beer city. They are mainly located around the festival area and the center of the stage. This year, mobile toilets use Japanese mine liquid processing technology. This means the treated sewage can be directly used as green manure fertilizing the city’s plants. The treated sewage does not have any odor or toxic gas, is environmentally friendly and is also energy saving.

Tiles "laid off" and then "employed"

This year the city will remove more than 250,000 three holed square bricks. It would be a real pity to abandon those blocks. Thus workers picked up the not-damaged bricks to reuse. The reused bricks will cover around 5000㎡ of ground, saving a large sum of money. The broken bricks can be used as material to fill rugged land. The three holed bricks are not only beautiful and durable, but also allow rain water to seep through.

The edible napkins

Edible napkins appear at the beer festival’s booths this year. This type of ecological paper is a kind of green paper. It is edible because it uses starch as a filler and soybean oil made of natural peeling as stripping agent, which ensures that it is fully alkali-free and chlorine-free, is biodegradable, with no optical brighteners or softeners, ensuring that it will not cause harm to the human body. The paper also utilizes talc safety process of production, The paper uses microbial fermentation technology and decompose plant bast fibers, and then uses water. The water after washing can be used to produce organic vegetables. After recycling, it does not cause any pollution to the environment.

In addition, this year the beer city will also renovate the old facilities including new styling. The city plans to build the beer city into a "green" leisure park.
