The Detailed Planning of Marina City in Sifang District Qingdao has been opened to be reviewed by the public in the Public Review Hall of Qingdao Municipal Planning Bureau yesterday. The public review will last until August 1st. According to the plan, west Qingdao would be developed into a multi-functional ecological city with marina characteristics. The new city will be used as business centers, tourist resorts, as well as residential quarters.

West Qingdao, known as the gathering areas of traditional industries, is an important district for industrial upgrading and readjustments of industrial structure of Qingdao. The Happy Marina City, located in the west of Qingdao and adjacent to Jiaozhou Bay express as well as many other inter-city rapid transits, is the only underdeveloped marina area in this region. However, the Happy Marina City boasts convenient transportation, abundant marina resources and rapid constructions, all of which makes Happy Marina City the key project of “Protection around the Bay, Development upon the Bay”.

The Happy Marina City, a narrow streak measuring 750 meters from east to west and 3500 meters from south to north, is expected to cover 222.03 hectares. The expected population is 36,000. According to the plan, the construction of the Happy Marina City would be center on the theme of “ecology, energy-saving and low-carbon”. The Happy Marina City is expected to include garden inn hotels, shopping towns, passenger liner areas, yacht clubs, fishermen’s wharfs, office areas for small and medium-sized enterprise, theaters and museums, medium and high-grade dwelling regions.

The overall planning of Happy Marina Area is “one center, one area, three districts, four axises”. “One center” refers to the areas intended for businesses and services. “One area” refers to the coastal public green belt. "Three areas” means the three functional areas of garden inns and hotels, businesses and entertainments, as well as vacation and advanced dwellings. “Four axis” refer to its four theme parks.

The construction of Happy Marina City began last year. The first stage of the facility construction project includes road pipeline construction, soft foundations and coastline arrangement. Up to now, the subgrade treatment and soft foundations of the seven main roads are almost finished.
