The Qingdao Municipal Committee of the official newspaper, Qingdao Daily, celebrated its 60th anniversary on May 10th. Principals of General Administration of Press and Publication of the People's Republic of China (GAPP) and the All-China Journalists Association attended the celebrations.

Xu Jianhong, party secretary and proprietor of the Qingdao Daily press group, made a speech at the activity. In the speech, he said that over the last 60 years, Qingdao Daily has not only recorded many important events in Qingdao, such as Coastal Open Cities, East Development, Move into the West Coast and “Central Bay Protection, Owned Bay Development” with its splendid language, but also made a grreat contribution to the process of social and economic development with its objective perspective and continuous exploration of its suitable direction.

According to the report, Qingdao Daily first launched some large interviews like travelling in Shandong, walking along Yellow River, focusing on Yangtze River Delta and visiting Bohai Economic Rim. What’s more, it issued some special supplements to commemorate the 30 years of reform and opening in 2008 and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (CPC) in 2009.

Qingdao Daily is the CPC Municipal Committee’s official newspaper, which started its publication in 1949 and now is a folio 16-version of color reported. These 16 versions can be divided into two sections: the first 8 editions include some events of Qingdao and domestic and international news, while the last 8 editions are mainly about economic news. In addition to economic news, it also contains other content, like economic review, investment banking, IT appliances, automotive channels, property markets and home design, fashion and shopping, food and entertainment and travel trends.
