The Fourth Shandong International Exhibition on Green Industry (or “Green Exhibition”) and the Shandong Eco-Province Executive Forum is scheduled to be held from July 3rd to 5th in Qingdao, a coastal city in East China’s Shandong province.
With the theme of “green production, green consumption and green life,” this Green Exhibition will feature three parts: the Shandong Eco-Province Executive Forum, the International Exhibition on Green Industry and a signing ceremony for environmentally friendly projects.
Experts in cyclic and eco-economic fields, both Chinese and foreign, will be invited to attend the Forum. The experts will introduce up-to-date research and development on matters of eco-economics.
The International Exhibition on Green Industry, aiming to introduce state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly technologies and products, will be divided into five sections. These sections will focus on energy-saving and emission-cutting projects, environmental treatment processes, environment protection technology and products, green life issues, marine economy and environmental protection-related products from overseas.
The year 2009 saw emissions of COD and SO2 in Shandong cut by 4.67 percent and 6.01 percent, respectively, compared with 2008.
As Shandong’s economy grew at a double digit rate for seven years in a row since 2003, COD and the density of ammonia nitrogen registered an annual decrease of 19.3 percent and 15.9 percent, respectively.
Shandong spent a total of over 117.7 billion yuan on environmental protection during the five years between 2001 and 2005, twelve times more than that spent between 1996 and 2000, and one eighth of the total number spent by China from 2001 to 2005.
Shandong has allocated 70 billion yuan per year for environmental protection since 2006.
Three sessions of “Shandong Eco-Province Executive Forum and International Exhibition on Green Industry” have been held in Shandong in 2004, 2006 and 2008. These three exhibitions welcomed 1,944 enterprises from 24 countries and regions around the world, including the United States, Korea, Canada, Denmark, Japan, German, Italy, Mexico, Singapore and Spain. A total of 5,894 contracts and intent letters were signed at the three exhibitions.
