The underground civil air defense facilities under Jimo Road, Qinshan Road and Liaoning Road in Qingdao will be knocked through and shaped into a 1000-meter-long underpass, combining the multiple functions of commercial facilities, tourism, leisure & entertainment and an underground walkway. Yesterday, Shibei District held a promotional fair to attract investment for its five major projects.
The underground landscape avenue is a key project under construction in Shibei District. Its expected total investment is 700 million yuan, of which Phase I requires 350 million.

It is reported that the total length of Phase I is approximately 1000 meters, ranging from the commodity market in Jimo Road to No. 48 Liaoning Road (opposite the main entrance of the Children’s Park), with a total construction area of about 40,000 square meters. Phase II starts from the planned subway entrances of Liaoning Road to those of Qinshan Road, with a full length of 500 meters, connecting commercials areas of Jimo Road, Liaoning Road and the Children’s Park, and directly connected with the subway entrances of Qinshan Road on Line M2. The main body of Phase I project is expected to be completed in June this year.

Yesterday, the reporter made a field visit to the construction site. It could be seen that the underground landscape avenue had already taken shape. “It seems like a huge and complicated task, but when you actually do it, it could be finished real fast,” a construction worker told the reporter. So far, the floor slabs have already been laid. The air vents are near the exits. A worker pointed to a "ladder” wrapped in plastic sheet and said, “This is the escalator that links the two floors. There will be exits every a hundred meters so tourists can come in and out the underground landscape avenue freely.”
