The 2026 Shandong Province Ski Challenge at the Cangmashan Ski Resort in Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) ended on Jan 17. The two-day event drew in over 200 contestants from across the nation, from seasoned veterans to rising stars.
The competition featured giant slalom events. To ensure inclusivity, participants competed in adult, youth, and junior categories, divided by gender. On the professional-grade tracks, athletes showed remarkable skill and sportsmanship, capturing the dynamic appeal of winter sports and the growing interest in fitness.
As the designated venue, the Cangmashan Ski Resort provided top-notch infrastructure to ensure a high-quality event. The facility made use of its efficient transport system, including cable cars and magic carpets, and upgraded track safety measures to meet rigorous competition standards. Comprehensive service facilities further ensured a comfortable experience for athletes and spectators.
To maintain professional standards, the tournament invited an elite officiating team led by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation technical delegate Zhang Yi. The team of national-level referees ensured fairness and accuracy in scoring and track judgments.
The success of this challenge has set a vibrant tone for the "Winter Tour in Qingdao WCNA" initiative. By blending professional competition with public participation, the event has strengthened Qingdao WCNA's reputation as a top destination for ice and snow sports, inviting enthusiasts to continue "chasing the wind and snow" throughout the season.
