Qingdao WCNA's Poli town earns spot on China's 2025 list of top 1,000 towns

Poli town in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) has been successfully named one of the China's top 1,000 towns of 2025. Located in the southwest of Qingdao WCNA, it spans 171 square kilometers and boasts a picturesque 40-kilometer coastline, combining natural beauty with a rich cultural heritage.

The economic might of Poli town is anchored by the Qingdao Port Dongjiakou Port Area, a national first-class open port. With an intended annual throughput of 500 million metric tons and 29 operational berths (out of 93 planned), the port demonstrates formidable operational capacity.

This robust infrastructure underpins a thriving cluster of port-side industries. The town is actively cultivating high-end chemical, advanced metals, and modern logistics sectors. It has attracted 173 projects, each exceeding 100 million yuan ($14 million) in investment, with a total investment surpassing 300 billion yuan.

The town is also home to two key municipal emerging industry parks focused on hydrogen energy and green, low-carbon materials, aiming to build a national benchmark for hydrogen industry and a world-class chemical new materials base.

Poli town also has a rich culture, boasting 34 renowned handicrafts and 20 intangible cultural heritage items. By merging these traditional arts with modern industry and employing digital preservation methods, the town is successfully revitalizing ancient techniques, ensuring they can thrive in the contemporary era.
