Yangjiashanli village in Qingdao West Coast New Area has been officially selected for the National Demonstrative Senior-Friendly Community creation list for 2025-2026. This recognition highlights the village's commitment to creating an exceptional environment for its elderly residents, while also attracting visitors for leisure, wellness, and red-cultural experiences.
To achieve "Secure Living for the Elderly", the village has focused on optimizing the aging-friendly environment. Infrastructure upgrades include making roads, lighting, public restrooms, and fitness equipment more accessible. The creation of a mountainous greenway provides a dedicated path for wellness and health. Furthermore, the village has integrated services into its digital village project, ensuring full coverage of smart monitoring, internet access, and smart broadcasting.
For "Health and Wellness for the Elderly", the village upgraded its senior canteen to offer customizable, age-appropriate meal menus and established a delivery service to address dining difficulties. The village clinic was enhanced with traditional Chinese medicine services like acupuncture and moxibustion, offering regular free check-ups and health lectures. A convenient service station provides one-stop processing for subsidies and other issues, while some officials offer door-to-door policy consultations and assistance, simplifying administrative tasks.
Finally, to promote "Enjoyment for the Elderly", the village upgraded its community center and used cultural venues like the farmhouse library and village stage to provide spaces for social gathering and cultural activities.
It also champions "Meaningful Engagement" by creating new market stalls and job opportunities (such as housekeeping and guesthouse management) through projects like rural guesthouses, offering seniors diverse income channels.
