The city balcony marine tourism project (Phase I) in Qingdao West Coast New Area in Qingdao of East China's Shandong province commenced operation on June 25.

Situated in the city balcony scenic area of Qingdao West Coast New Area, this project is a comprehensive maritime tourism complex.

With a total planned investment of 180 million yuan ($25 million), the project will be implemented in three phases. The phase-I investment includes approximately 30 million yuan and will focus on the construction of a floating dock as a pier and the introduction of popular tourist activities such as speedboats and drifting boats.

"This project will further enrich the high-quality tourism offerings in the new area, creating a new experience for citizens and tourists in marine tourism consumption," said Fan Fan, a manager of the project.

Activities such as dynamic airboats, sightseeing speedboats, drifting boats, towing boats, and water paddleboards will be available.

As the first marine tourism project in Qingdao West Coast New Area by local authorities, the project not only fills the gap in marine tourism in the local area, but also stimulates the development of tourism-related industries such as catering and hotels.
