Qingdao WCNA emerges as leading film hub

Since the inception of the China Movie Metropolis project in 2013, Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) has ascended to global eminence in the realm of film and television.

In 2014, Qingdao WCNA attained national-level recognition as a burgeoning new territory, opening a new chapter in its development journey. By focusing on film and television, it has managed to liberate itself from the shackles of conventional industries. In 2016, the TV drama Going Rural was filmed in Houshigou village, marking an early milestone for the area's burgeoning film and television industry.

Qingdao WCNA has cultivated a film and television landscape revolving around the China Movie Metropolis, relying on the dynamic synergy between Lingshan Bay in the east and Cangma Mountain in the west. Its influence extends across all of Qingdao.

In a bid to continually refine its business environment and enhance services for film and television enterprises and crews, Qingdao WCNA established the first-ever local film and television service management institution in China – the film and television industry development center – in 2021. Tasked with strategic planning, policy advocacy, public services, and the cultivation of the Metropolis of Film brand, this center is in charge of the specialized workings of the film and television cultural industry chain, overseeing the comprehensive development of the Qingdao Film and Television Base with precision and dedication.
