In celebration of Lantern Festival, various regions in Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) have been hosting traditional folk art performances.
On Feb 9 in Boli town, 20 performance teams gathered to present a unique cultural extravaganza. The event commenced with captivating dragon and lion dance performances, followed by the grand entrance of the centuries-old boli drum. The audience was treated to a plethora of exhilarating dance performances, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of applause, drumbeats, and gongs.
The following day, the Lantern Festival folk art performance was held, coinciding with the spring ocean-themed fair launch ceremony in Xin'an subdistrict, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Over 200 performers from various communities within the subdistrict, adorned in colorful costumes, danced to lively drumbeats. The program featured traditional dramas, stilts, and other engaging performances.
On Feb 11, Lingshanwei subdistrict hosted a Lantern Festival-themed performance event, showcasing a diverse array of folk arts such as acrobatics, fan dances, and more. Concurrently, at the Town God's Temple Square in the subdistrict, numerous booths were set up, featuring over 10 practitioners of intangible cultural heritage and skilled artisans demonstrating techniques like gourd carving and hand weaving. Their displays drew the attention of many people, who eagerly stopped to admire and purchase the unique products.
