Paifang Street in Zhuhai subdistrict, Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) was a must-visit location during the recent Spring Festival holiday.
The vibrant temple fair at Paifang Street kicked off on Jan 29, the first day of Chinese New Year, marking the beginning of a seven-day festive extravaganza.
The fairgrounds were adorned with towering red lanterns and colorful decorations, exuding a rich festive ambiance. Divided into various zones focusing on sales, food, performances, live-streaming, photo opportunities, and more, the fair offered a diverse array of goods catering to the needs of both locals and tourists, creating a fusion of traditional and modern elements for a lively Chinese New Year celebration.
To infuse the fair with festive spirit, Paifang Street treated visitors to over 30 captivating interactive performances.
For those unable to attend in person, fair organizers arranged for live-streaming, collaborating with local TikTok influencers to engage viewers virtually. This innovative approach allowed for seamless interaction between online and in-person participants, ensuring that more individuals could partake in the fair's festive cheer.
From the first to the seventh day of Chinese New Year, daily foot traffic on Paifang Street surged by 50 percent compared to the previous period, with approximately 42,000 visitors. The live-streaming attracted an impressive 80 million viewers, significantly boosting sales for nearby businesses, particularly snack vendors who saw a remarkable 300-percent increase in sales.
