The West Coast Future Cultural Center recently held a grand unveiling ceremony. This marks the official opening of its ocean library and the ocean grand theater to the public.
This center boasts a range of facilities, including an ocean library, an ocean grand theater, and an ocean lounge. Its mission is to establish a comprehensive platform integrating knowledge dissemination, cultural exchange, and artistic creation.
At the core of this cultural hub lies the ocean library, which sprawls 88.2 mu (6 hectares) and is currently the largest standalone public library in Shandong province. With a planned collection of 4 million volumes and 7,000 reading seats, the library is designed to cater to the diverse needs of a wide readership.
"The ocean library serves not only as a repository of information but also as a hub for self-directed learning, academic discourse, and cultural events," said the operation manager at the West Coast Future Cultural Center.
The ocean grand theater, established alongside the library, has a total construction area of 24,000 square meters and will host a variety of performances, large-scale conferences, international academic exchanges, and diverse artistic collaborations.
Leveraging the resources of the ocean grand theater, the West Coast Future Cultural Center aims to cultivate a unique local cultural tourism identity. Moreover, the center is set to host the first international theatre festival in Qingdao West Coast New Area next year, which will promise an unprecedented cultural feast.
