Qingdao Port has completed the first section of the approach bridge for its second 400,000-metric-ton ore terminal at Dongjiakou port area, a unit of Shandong Port Group.
This 400,000-ton ore terminal, with an approach bridge spanning 460 meters, is a key initiative in Shandong province. Its prestressed concrete variable-section continuous box girder structure was divided into six sections for assembly.
To expedite construction, the team ingeniously built a temporary steel structure bridge over the approach bridge, converting marine construction conditions to land-based ones.
This innovative approach eliminated the constraints of the marine environment and vessel interference, reducing safety risks and trimming the timeline by approximately four months.
Throughout the construction, the team utilized an intelligent management platform for waterway engineering, employing smart AI full-coverage monitoring, automated data collection, and monitoring the complete lifecycle of pile foundations.
The project is on track to be operational by the first half of 2025.
