Qingdao Port adds oil terminal, enhances capacity

Updated: November 29, 2024

The Dongjiakou port area of Qingdao Port completed a water transport project on Nov 28, adding a new 120,000-metric-ton oil terminal to Qingdao West Coast New Area.

This development enhances the port's capacity with the addition of two 120,000-ton oil berths totaling 690 meters in length and boasting a designed annual throughput capacity of 9.95 million tons.

As the largest foreign trade crude oil unloading port in northern China, Qingdao Port's latest expansion addresses the previous limitations in crude oil transportation capacity, particularly in the Dongjiakou port area.

The project will make the transfer of existing crude oil transportation from the Huangdao port area more efficient and accommodate new transportation developments, strengthening Qingdao Port's role in the region's energy logistics infrastructure.
