The third phase of the grain silo project at Dongjiakou Port Area, Qingdao Port, a subsidiary of Shandong Port Group, has completed its final acceptance and is set to commence operations.

As China's first automated unmanned grain terminal, this project will infuse port operations with digital technologies, so as to shift from a mechanized grain terminal to an intelligent, automated one.

This project has independently developed systems for intelligent bulk cargo operations, equipment control, digital silos, and intelligent safety management. This enables data sharing and business collaboration, and ultimately creates a link between management and equipment automation, which provides a guarantee for integrated management and control of the grain terminal's entire production process.

The technical and management personnel of the grain terminal were involved early in the construction process, pooled their efforts and adhered to process and construction method innovations.

"We have automated the entire grain silo equipment and pioneered the country's most efficient fully automated ship unloader capable of unloading 1,250 tons per hour," said a project engineer.

Upon completion, the project will further enhance the terminal's unloading and silo capacity. This will help the terminal meet the growing demand for grain trade and port-side grain and oil processing projects in the vicinity served by Dongjiakou Port Area, and solidify Qingdao Port as a major national hub for bulk grain unloading.
