Qingdao West Coast New Area is developing a number of new landmarks, including a sports center, two bases, and two parks, designed to energize sports and cultural in the region.
The aforementioned sports center is the West Coast Olympic Sports Center, a complex with a 77,000-square-meter construction area, a stadium for 18,000 spectators and a dedicated parking building. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, the center will anchor a sports business complex that integrates sports, culture, commerce, leisure, and fitness facilities.

The two bases include the Chinese Badminton Association Qingdao Training and Competition Base in Guzhenkou's core area, which is on track to become a vital venue for the national badminton team by 2025, and the Qingdao Coastal Rowing Promotion and Training Base, located in the sea area of Yueliang Bay and Tangdao Bay, which has already made its mark by hosting significant rowing events and is now actively pursuing the right to host the 2026 World Coastal Rowing Championships.

The two parks will further enrich the area's cultural and sports offerings. The Yongbao International Culture and Sports Park is anticipated to host over 30 major football events annually, attracting at least 1 million visitors for various events and commercial activities. The Fenghe River Ecological Sports Park, covering nearly 200,000 square meters, is expected to include an 11-a-side football field, a 9-a-side cage football field, four cage basketball courts, two cage tennis courts, and a number of fitness trails and paths. It will be the first ecological sports park in Qingdao that is both riverside and seaside.
