Qingdao WCNA advances culture, tourism integration

Qingdao West Coast Area (Qingdao WCNA) in East China's Shandong province recently released a construction plan for building the area into a national demonstration zone for the integrated development of culture and tourism.

The plans are expected to further boost the contribution of the cultural and tourism industries to economic and social development, fully unleash the potential of cultural and tourism consumption, and promote the revitalization of the cultural and tourism market in Qingdao WCNA.

The plan adheres to a strategy of innovation-driven development and is in accordance with the overall industrial development plan of the Qingdao WCNA, which focuses on integrated transformation. It includes five major actions which are intended help realize the integrated development of the cultural and tourism industries.

The plan's goals for this year include improving the overall cultural and tourism environment and market order in the area, achieving significant breakthroughs in marine cultural tourism, increasing satisfaction among citizens and tourists, and boosting tourist reception by over 20 percent year-on-year.

By the end of 2025, goals include significantly increasing the overall domestic and international attractiveness, influence, and competitiveness of the cultural and tourism industries in Qingdao WCNA, completing and putting into use a number of high-quality key cultural and tourism projects, boosting the output of the cultural and tourism industries to more than 90 billion yuan ($12.42 billion), ensuring that the added value of the cultural and tourism industries accounts for over 13 percent of the area’s GDP, and making progress in the construction of an international coastal tourism destination.
