1st Qingdao Seed Industry Expo to showcase innovation, growth

The inaugural Qingdao Seed Industry Expo will take place from June 13 to 15 in Qingdao West Coast New Area.

The event will feature an opening ceremony, a seed industry forum, two professional exhibitions, and a variety of activities.

The expo has a combined indoor and field exhibition space of 20,000 square meters hosting approximately 300 companies and is expected to draw over 10,000 visitors. Attendees can expect to see about 2,000 seasonal varieties, export base varieties, and superior varieties native to Qingdao.

Qingdao West Coast New Area unveiled plans in 2023 to establish the Qingdao International Seed Industry High-tech Demonstration Zone. Objectives include attracting and fostering more than 50 seed industry enterprises over the course of three years, nurturing a leading "breeding and propagation integration" company, developing six or more modern seed industry research hubs, expanding the breeding area to over 60,000 mu (4,000 hectares), and generating a seed industrial chain output value of more than 2 billion yuan ($277.92 million).

To raise the profile of the Qingdao international seed industry hub, the high-tech demonstration zone's goal is to offer a platform for promoting innovative crop varieties, technologies and materials from domestic and international sources, thus crafting a unique agricultural exhibition identity for the new area.
