New Year lantern show to shine at Golden Beach Beer City

Preparations for the 2024 Golden Beach Beer City New Year lantern show are underway in Qingdao West Coast New Area, East China's Shandong province. The park has prepared colorful lanterns and a festive Snow Dreamland.

The lantern show will run from the start of the Spring Festival on Feb 10 until Feb 24, the day of the Lantern Festival. The lantern show will take place on the Avenue of Stars within the park.

A variety of lanterns and the much-loved datiehua will offer up a visual feast. Datiehua, which literally means "striking iron flowers", is a folk-art display that involves splashing molten metal to create sparkling streaks of light. Sparks rain down as performers spray molten iron to simulate fireworks. The performance is a traditional way of celebrating the Chinese New Year.

The Snow Dreamland will stage various snow entertainment projects, such as snow tube skiing, sleigh rides, merry-go-rounds on the snow, snow motors and snow tanks. It will be located on the park's Beer Cultural Square from Dec 28 to Feb 6.

There will also be a series of sea lion performances, presenting stunning acts such as handstanding on a ball, land circle, water ballet, handshaking and dancing.

A small zoo in the park will also allow visitors to get close to small animals and take photos. Ticket pre-sales are now open and can be purchased via the Douyin app.
