Films produced at WCNA win Golden Rooster Awards

Four films shot (including produced) at the China Movie Metropolis in Qingdao West Coast New Area won seven awards at the 2023 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, which was held in Xiamen, Fujian province from Nov 1 to 4.

The four films, namely Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms, The Wandering Earth II, Home Coming and Ripples of Life, collectively won seven Golden Rooster Awards.

The Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms, shot in nine large-scale studios in the China Movie Metropolis, received three major awards: Best Picture, Best Cinematography and Best Supporting Actor.

The Wandering Earth II was honored with the Special Jury and Best Sound Recording awards. This sci-fi blockbuster was predominantly filmed at the China Movie Metropolis, with over 90 percent of its scenes completed using 17 studios. The production team utilized the virtual production platform available at the Metropolis to shoot the film virtually, achieving remarkable results.

Li Miao was awarded Best Art for the film Home Coming. He has created three blockbusters over the course of four years at the park. The crew even constructed a life-size African town at the park's outdoor scene location.
