Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) has been recognized as one of the 20 "advanced counties for high-quality development" by the Shandong Provincial People's Government for the fourth consecutive year.
In the first half of this year, the regional GDP of Qingdao WCNA reached 237.94 billion yuan ($32.63 billion), accounting for 31.7 percent of the total economic output of Qingdao. The area has implemented three-year action plans to promote the development of the real economy and enhance high-quality development.
Building a leading area for high-quality development
Emerging industries such as chips and screens, and specialized industrial parks for integrated circuits, new displays, green and low-carbon new materials, hydrogen energy and energy storage, and a film and television base are currently under construction in the Qingdao WCNA.
As of the end of 2022, the area had 39 enterprises in the integrated circuit and new display industries. It also generated an output value of 10.69 billion yuan in the first quarter of this year.
Building a new highland for reform and opening-up
In recent years, Qingdao WCNA has been working on attracting investment and talents. There are currently 425,000 market entities and 780,000 talents in the area. Qingdao WCNA is also home to 21 high-level universities, including the Ocean University of China.
Building a new benchmark for urban construction
The new area has been improving its infrastructure, constructing multiple subway lines and underwater tunnels, as well as developing agricultural zones and promoting rural vitalization.
It has also hosted various high-end exhibitions such as the East Asia Marine Expo, the Qingdao International Beer Festival and the Qingdao Film and Television Expo.
Building a new paradigm of livability and happiness
Qingdao WCNA has constructed and renovated 305 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in recent years.
The area has also attracted regional medical centers and high-end medical projects such as the Tsinghua University-affiliated Qingdao Hospital and Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital.
Moreover, it has been recognized as the best city for employment promotion in China and residents have a per capita disposable income of 55,506 yuan.
