The Oriental Fashion Season · 2023 Qingdao Fashion Week, sponsored by the China National Textile & Apparel Council and Qingdao Municipal People's Government, kicked off in the Qingdao West Coast New Area on Sept 6.

Representatives from industry organizations such as the China National Textile & Apparel Council, the China National Textile & Apparel Council, the Korea Federation of Textile Industries and the Japanese Fiber Industry Alliance, as well as senior officials from clothing brand enterprises and original designers participated in the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Liu Wei, an acclaimed award-winning designer and China's textile intangible cultural heritage promotion ambassador, brought forward the first fashion show of the fashion week.

The opening show Soaring to New Heights took intangible cultural heritage as its theme, allowing the live audience to experience the fusion of "textile heritage" and modern fashion up-close. The show's design inspiration comes from the museum's collection of cultural relics, and uses fashion to showcase the concept of "museums coming to contemporary society", and is a deep exploration of the harmonious blend of fashion and traditional culture.

At the opening ceremony, the 1st China (Jimo) Infant and Toddler Eco-Fabric Design Competition was launched.

With the theme of "Beauty in Care" and the concept of "Technology Empowering Design, Innovating to Enhance Value", the competition aims to introduce new materials, accessories, and technologies from top-quality infant and toddler clothing companies nationwide to Qingdao and Shandong province. It will bring new ideas, fresh blood, and new energy to the local textile and garment industry, said the organizers.

This year, the fashion week will combine experiential brand showcases and immersive fashion exhibitions, creating new scenarios for fashion consumption. It will continue to promote the cultivation, marketing, and exhibition of textile and garment brands and establish Qingdao as a high-end destination for textile and garment trade and consumption.
