Qingdao WCNA welcomes 2023 East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum

The 2023 East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum, held under the theme of "Harmonious Coexistence in the Ocean Decade", commenced on June 28 in Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA).

The event brought together a distinguished gathering of over 400 marine experts, economists, and entrepreneurs from more than 30 countries and regions, both in person and online.

The opening ceremony witnessed the official launch of the Qingdao Initiative for the Ocean Decade, an ambitious endeavor aimed at fostering sustainable practices and conservation efforts to help protect the planet and its seas.

Additionally, the unveiling of the Shandong Marine Technology Transfer and Commercialization Center (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community) plaque, alongside the Innovation Cooperation Center for International Marine Scenes, added to the significance of the occasion.

Notably, the forum was bestowed with the esteemed Zero Carbon Conference and Carbon Neutrality certificate, underscoring its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Taking center stage at the main venue, Peter Thomson, the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Ocean, delivered a compelling keynote address that delved into the need to protect and improve on the delicate balance between nature and humanity, ultimately striving for a future defined by sustainable development.

The forum served as a platform to showcase China's achievements in high-quality oceanic advancements and international collaboration. By facilitating the exchange of global experiences and technological breakthroughs in promoting the health and sustainability of our oceans, it played a pivotal role in forging a shared future for this invaluable resource.
