During the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) witnessed a remarkable increase in tourism and retail activity. Scenic spots welcomed over 450,000 visitors, representing a staggering 206 percent year-on-year growth. Additionally, the Qingdao West Railway Station reported a record-breaking daily passenger count of 26,000.

Meanwhile, retail sales of 15 key companies reached an impressive 46.8 million yuan ($6.49 million) per day, marking a 9.3 percent increase year-on-year.

To draw more tourists, a wide array of cultural and tourism activities were organized.

The highly anticipated 2023 Phoenix Music Festival took place in the enchanting Golden Beach Beer City, capturing the attention of the nation. Mangrove Tree Resort World Qingdao hosted a series of activities that integrated zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), magic, Chinese fashion, and bazaars.

Furthermore, Langya Terrace introduced the Langya Terrace Summer Solstice Dragon Boat Festival Blessing Series, adding to the vibrant tapestry of events.

The area's breathtaking natural beauty also proved to be a major draw for visitors, as colorful tents dotted Golden Beach and neon lights illuminated Haowa Pedestrian Street.

Notably, Wanda Plaza played host to a zongzi event, resulting in a 103 percent increase in sales and customer traffic compared to the previous year. Moreover, a street fair held at the City Balcony saw 103 merchants generate over 60,000 yuan, representing a 7.6 percent year-on-year increase.
