Qingdao WCNA takes lead in high-quality development

Once again, Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA) has proven itself as a front-runner in high-quality development within Shandong province. The coastal region recently topped the rankings for the fourth year, earning the esteemed "Advanced County in High-Quality Development" honor in the 2022 county-level economic assessment.

For the first time, this year's evaluation considered the characteristics of all 136 districts and cities throughout the province, employing a grouped assessment that allocated unique indicators and weight values to ensure a thorough and authoritative analysis.

Throughout the previous year, Qingdao WCNA has consistently reaffirmed its position as a prominent exemplar of economic advancement and sustainable development. Exhibiting a noteworthy gross domestic product (GDP) of 469.2 million yuan ($66.05 million) in 2022, the area made a significant contribution of roughly one-third of Qingdao's overall economic output, particularly in key sectors like marine production, large enterprise industry, and foreign trade.

Furthermore, Qingdao WCNA cemented its reputation by ranking 14th in China's top 100 county-level administrative units for high-quality development in 2023, surpassing the other 17 units from Shandong province. As it continues to flourish, the thriving economic hub exemplifies the successful fusion of modern industry and sustainable development.
