Qingdao WCNA sees boom in tourism industry during May Day holiday

During the five-day May Day holiday, which began on April 29, Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) welcomed a total of 2.1 million tourists from home and abroad and generated a total tourism revenue of 2.23 billion yuan ($348 million). The consumption market was bustling with key retail and catering companies achieving total sales of nearly 300 million yuan.

During the holiday, the area carefully planned and launched 15 tourism routes, including "Travel and Residence in West Coast, Enjoying the Landscape", "May Day Tour in the New Area", and "Classic Tour of West Coast Residence".

A series of cultural and tourism festival activities greatly enriched the new district's cultural tourism market. Themed on "Tasting Ancient and Modern Langya, Brewing the Legends of Mountains and Seas", the 2023 Langya China • Jinjiang Yuli Culture Festival took place in Golden Beach Beer City on April 28 and showcased China's enchanting traditional liquor culture.

By utilizing the four city landmarks, the international brands in the area, including "Film and Television City", "Music Island", "Beer City", and "Convention and Exhibition Coast" were a hit during the holiday.

The public transportation passenger volume in the area reached 1.65 million, taxis carried more than 140,000 passengers, and a total of 3,858 tourists went to Lingshan Island from Jimiya port.

Furthermore, the area organized supermarkets and catering companies to carry out various promotional activities.
