Science, film exhibition holds special event in Qingdao WCNA| Updated: April 6, 2023

A key event at this year's Qingdao Film and Television Expo was an immersive exhibition focusing on the integrated development of science and film, which took place in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) on April 6.

Themed on the "Future of Science and Film", the exhibition concentrated on the frontiers of film technologies developed by domestic companies with independent intellectual property rights and attracted 23 organizations including scientific research institutes, universities and high-tech enterprises to showcase the latest technologies, applications and scenarios in the film and television industry.

The exhibition strived to enhance the technological empowerment in the film industry and help construct an independent technological system for Chinese films.

One distinct feature of the exhibition was the integration of industry, university, research and application, and the Institute of Innovative Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center and Deemos Technologies Inc participated in the event.

Another highlight was the release of future technologies, such as ChatAvatar, the world's first Production-Ready Text to 3D product, cloud platform and the virtual reality-based technology for film production.

Participating in the visual effects production of director Guo Fan's sci-fi The Wandering Earth II, Zenustech displayed China's first whole-process 3D content generation software ZENO at the booth, which supports creators' whole-process production from procedural modeling, physical simulation calculation to the ray tracing rendering of the Graphics Processing Unit, or GPU.

Other highlights included the intelligent face drawing board developed by the Institute of Innovative Computing Technology of the CAS, and the state-of-the-art technologies of virtual shooting, optical imaging, graphics computing, ergonomics, interaction and new modeling exhibited by the Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center.
