Qingdao's Dongjiakou builds first-class chemical park

As one of the top 10 parks with great growth potential in China's chemical industry, Dongjiakou Chemical Industrial Park in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) in Shandong province is demonstrating a strong development in its economy and construction of key projects.

The industrial output value of the park surged from 7.9 billion yuan ($1.13 billion) in 2018 to 30 billion yuan in 2022.

At present, the park has built an advanced infrastructure network that includes dual power sources, dual water sources and multiple gas sources, which has formed a system integrating "sea, railway, highway, pipeline gallery and long-distance pipelines". Its chemical pipeline gallery enables an "end-to-end" seamless connection of raw materials from ports to the tanks of enterprises.

The second phase of the propane dehydrogenation project of Jinneng Science and Technology Co Ltd, a high-tech enterprise focused on energy and the production and distribution of fine chemicals and coal chemical products, is under construction in the park. Once completed, Jinneng's propane dehydrogenation capacity is expected to reach 1.8 million tons per year and Qingdao WCNA, making it the world's largest base for propane dehydrogenation.

Another key project is the Qingdao Chengzhi Huaqing Chemical New Material Industrial Park, which has a total investment of 5.4 billion yuan. After becoming operational, the park plans to localize POE products and optimize the product structure of high-end new materials in China.

Dongjiakou Economic Zone gives full play to its international deep-water port and focuses on attracting key projects and implementing the "three lists" model to manage enterprises.
