The breakwater project in the Hujiashan operation area of Dongjiakou Port in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA), Shandong province, is currently in full swing with excavators raising digging arms high in the air and transport trucks loaded with gravel coming in and out.

With an investment of 1.37 billion yuan by Qingdao Dongjiakou Development Group, the project is a key infrastructure of the cold chain logistics base of the Dongjiakou Economic Zone. It broke ground on May 31, 2022 and is expected to be completed in May 2025.

The breakwater project can prevent wave intrusion, keep the waters in the port calm and provide stable and safe berthing and operating conditions for large ocean-going fishing vessels. After completion, it will improve infrastructure construction of the cold chain logistics base and create a new type of marine industry with complete supporting facilities, reasonable spatial layout, and convenient transportation.

The cold chain logistics base is one of the first national backbone cold chain logistics hubs and a vital platform for the development of the modern marine industrial chain cluster in the region.

The Dongjiakou Economic Zone is also accelerating the construction of supporting facilities and roads.

One of them is a major industrial project covering an area of over 42 mu and consisting of five apartments and two commercial buildings at the Dongjiakou Port Industrial Zone.

After completion, it will provide local enterprises with high-quality accommodations, improve the public services of the zone and attract more investment.
