Economic development benefits residents in Qingdao WCNA

In 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) reached 450 billion yuan ($66.37 billion), up 5.5 percent year-on-year, and the general public budget hit 32.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent.

Listed as one of China's top three new areas, Qingdao WCNA has been selected as a high-quality development area in Shandong province for three years in a row.

At the same time, Qingdao WCNA strived to update the city's construction in 2022, with a total of 28 old residential reconstruction projects completed, and eight public parking lots with 4,700 more parking spaces established.

Qingdao WCNA also worked on the rejuvenation of rural areas. In 2022, there were a total of 21 demonstration villages established and 60 kilometers high-quality rural roads built.

Last year, a total of 1.63 million square meters of illegal buildings were demolished, five rivers were cleaned up and 63 meters of greenways were newly built. As a result, the area has become greener and more livable.

When it comes to employment, Qingdao WCNA released 10 clauses of favorable policies, provided 7,250 job vacancies, and created 80,000 jobs in 2022.

Furthermore, the education sector in Qingdao WCNA continued to develop in 2022, with a total of 21 kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools being erected, and 15,000 majors added to the college education system.
