Qingdao WCNA draws up blueprint for manufacturing industry

Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) recently issued a plan for the development of its high-end manufacturing industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

By 2025, the output value of industrial enterprises above designated size is expected to increase by more than 10 percent annually, the output value of high-tech industries is expected to account for more than 65 percent, and the output value of Qingdao WCNA's manufacturing industry is expected to reach 660 billion yuan ($98.42 million), according to the plan.

According to the plan, Qingdao WCNA plans to focus on developing eight industrial clusters including smart home appliances, high-end chemical new materials, chips and screens, marine engineering, automobiles, high-end equipment, marine biomedicine and artificial intelligence.

The area also plans to build more than five national-leading smart factories and more than 50 distinctive digital workshops and automated production lines, as well as 10 high-level innovation service platforms for common technology research and development and achievement transformation.
