Two core process modules built by China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) for the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Canada project were delivered in Qingdao West Coast New Area on May 7.

The project was the first in the world to utilize the integrated construction of core process modules and pipe gallery modules. COOEC independently implemented the first domestic degreasing operation of LNG core process modules to complete the two modules. The delivery marked that China's capability to construct LNG plant modules has reached a leading level globally.

The two Acid Gas Removal Unit (AGRU) modules are mainly responsible for the acid gas removal task for the pretreatment of raw material gas, and will play an important protective role for the production safety of the LNG plant.

The modules will be shipped to the LNG Canada project site in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada for on-site installation.

COOEC's facility in Qingdao has completed 80 percent of the work for the 35 LNG Canada modules it undertook. As one of the largest energy investments in the history of Canada, LNG Canada is expected to supply high-quality natural gas to China and other Asian countries by 2024.
