Qingdao WCNA paints blueprint for exhibition industry

Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA), known as the Coast of Exhibition, recently issued a development plan for its exhibition industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

By 2025, the direct revenue of the exhibition industry in Qingdao WCNA is expected to reach 3 billion yuan ($466.14 million), and the total revenue of the exhibition industry that included derivative income is expected to reach 30 billion yuan, according to goals set in the plan.

Every year, more than 25 exhibitions covering more than 10,000 square meters will be organized. More than 10 well-known exhibition brands will be developed, and one or two exhibition enterprises with strong competitiveness and influence will be nurtured, according to the plan.

The plan also states that by 2025, the comprehensive strength of the exhibition industry in Qingdao WCNA will be significantly enhanced, the degree of branding, specialization, and internationalization will be greatly improved, and an exhibition industry system with optimized structure, supporting functions, solid foundation, reasonable layout and balanced development will be established.

Qingdao WCNA will strive to become a leading area in terms of the development of the exhibition industry in Shandong province and China while having great influence in East Asia and the world, which include complete business formats, distinctive features and first-class services.

To fulfill the targets, key tasks were listed in the plan. On one hand, Qingdao WCNA will give full play to the role of the exhibition platforms, promote the integrated development of exhibitions and other industries like advanced manufacturing, new technology, fashion, culture and tourism, and create professional exhibitions closely related to Qingdao WCNA's key industries. Supporting services and facilities will also be further improved.

On the other hand, Qingdao WCNA will introduce and cultivate high-quality exhibition projects, enhance the influence of exhibition brands, cultivate market entities, and expand the exhibition market.

At the same time, the local government will work to standardize the market order, create an optimal business environment, develop new organization and transaction modes, build a new form of the exhibition economy, strengthen the construction of talent teams, and improve the competence of human resources for the development of the exhibition industry.

Qingdao WCNA is an important venue for international large-scale events and has successfully held well-known conferences and exhibitions such as the Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia, East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum, Z.H. Island Changemaker Summit, Asia Agro-Food Expo and the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition.
