WCNA starts construction of 80 key projects

The commencement ceremony of major projects in Qingdao in the second quarter this year was held at the high-end optoelectronic industry base in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA) on April 6, announcing the start of the construction of 80 key projects valued at 46.3 billion yuan ($7.28 billion).

The key projects cover nine key industrial chains such as biomedicine and medical equipment, high-end chemicals as well as new materials. Among them, four industries are located in the base with a total investment of 11 billion yuan covering the Fujian Wanda Optoelectronics Intelligent Manufacturing Production Base Project, Mini LED Backplane Project, 3D Vehicle Cover Plate Project, and Xingtai High-end Intelligent Optoelectronics Production Base Project.

Lin Jie, president of Fujian Wanda Industrial Company said in an online video that, in recent years, the WCNA focuses on the optoelectronic industry chain, and it is equipped with a national first-class business environment and government services. Lin also hopes that the project would contribute to the high-quality development of the new area.

According to preliminary data, in the first quarter of this year, 155 new projects with a total investment of 42.1 billion yuan have started construction in the new area, with a year-on-year increase of 21.1 percent in new project construction and 133.9 percent in investment in the WCNA.

The Qingdao WCNA will continue to focus on 27 provincial key projects with a total investment of 71.7 billion yuan, and a total investment of 176.4 billion yuan in 67 municipal key projects to make more contributions to Qingdao's development.
