China's 1st 5G-powerd agro product wholesale park opens in Qingdao

China's first 5G-powered agricultural product wholesale park was recently established in Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA).

Its establishment is part of local efforts to further integrate information technology and modern agriculture, promote local agricultural products to the whole country, and realize rural revitalization.

The park, also known as the China Agricultural Product Wholesale Qingdao WCNA Market, will become a modern agricultural product circulation comprehensive service platform with an efficient circulation system powered by 5G technologies.

More than 10 5G applications for smart security, cloud energy management, and environmental space management will be implemented in the park by leveraging China Mobile's 5G technologies, and supplemented by other technologies including cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence.

According to the overall plan, the park will cover about 24.67 hectares, with a construction area of 300,000 square meters. The total investment for the project is 5 billion yuan ($790.84 million). After becoming fully operational, the annual transaction volume of goods in the market is expected to reach 3 million metric tons and the annual volume of transactions will be about 20 billion yuan.

With a focus on aquatic products, the project is committed to building an international seafood trading platform and aquatic product circulation service platform. It will strengthen the comprehensive capabilities in processing, bonded warehousing, inspection, distribution, logistics, and finance.
