Lingshan Island Nature Reserve, which is located in Qingdao West Coast New Area, was recently certified as China's first independent carbon-negative area by the China Quality Certification Center.

With a primary focus on solar lighting, photovoltaic power generation, clean energy transformation, and forest protection, Lingshan Island Nature Reserve has achieved great results in reducing carbon from the environment and increasing carbon sinks.

According to the China Quality Certification Center, the reserve's emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide in 2020 reached 5,668 tons of carbon dioxide equivalence while the forest carbon sink reached 7,001 tons.
