Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport is steadily bolstering its position as a key international aviation hub.

Transit passenger volume at the airport has surpassed 2.02 million this year, making up about 9 percent of total traffic and placing it 13th nationally. International transit numbers have grown significantly, with 970,000 passengers, marking a year-on-year increase of nearly 30 percent.

To enhance the transit experience, the airport has introduced several service improvements. It has developed a transit network covering 25 domestic cities for connections to Japan and South Korea and has established seamless transfer procedures from 38 domestic hubs to nine international destinations, including Dubai and Sydney.

The airport has reduced the check-in closure time for international flights to 50 minutes and offers expedited services such as dedicated counters and fast security channels. Additionally, a 24-hour direct transit exemption from border inspection has been implemented, significantly streamlining the transfer process for eligible passengers.

The airport has also advanced intermodal connectivity. Its comprehensive transportation center integrates air, high-speed rail, and subway services. The underground Qingdao Airport Railway Station operates 31 daily trains connecting Shandong province with other major cities. In the first nine months of this year, the air-rail intermodal passenger volume reached 1.03 million, a 32 percent increase.
