This year, the wave of winter tourism in Qingdao continues to surge. With the launch of the 2024 Laoshan Red Leaf Festival and the Winter Fun at Laoshan cultural and tourism leisure season on Nov 16, Qingdao welcomed more tourists wanting to stroll among the red leaves while having a pleasant time.
Qingdao's enduring autumn colors are attributed to its temperate monsoon climate and geographical location.
According to statistics from Qingdao’s gardening and forestry departments, the city's autumn leaves are a kaleidoscope of colors, ranging from yellow and brown to bright red, dark red, and intertwined hues. Fifty to sixty species of ornamental trees paint a dreamy autumn picture.
As urban renewal and construction progress, the achievements in building Qingdao into a park city are becoming increasingly evident. Numerous pocket parks and greenways are reshaping the city's green spaces, providing more places to experience and capture the beauty of autumn and winter.
In recent years, Qingdao has been promoting the construction of a park city. Just this year, the city has built 18 comprehensive parks (community parks), 100 kilometers of urban greenways, 35 shaded corridors, and 82 vertical greening sites, and finishing two experiential parks. All these pocket parks and green spaces are becoming perfect destinations for visitors and citizens to stay close to nature, and offering an engaging experience.
