The first visiting cruise ship, the Europa, docked at the Qingdao International Cruise Port after the resumption of cruise operations on Feb 29. More than 400 foreign tourists and crew members disembarked to explore the beautiful scenery, try the local food, experience Qingdao's folk customs, and immerse themselves in Chinese culture.

Since the maiden voyage of the Blue Dream Star on Sept 29, 2023, Qingdao has become the third city in China to resume international cruise operations.

In response, the port's service administration, in conjunction with Shibei district, has formulated specific policies and measures to attract cruise routes this year, signing contracts to introduce over 20 new routes, resulting in a noticeable surge in cruise tourism.

Qingdao has established a solid foundation in developing cruise tourism, being designated as the fourth "China Cruise Tourism Development Demonstration Zone".

The cruise tourism market in Qingdao is continuously improving, and after two years of development, the city's cruise industry is expected to enter a new golden period in 2026, according to a prediction from the port's service administration.

To enrich the cruise tourism experience, Qingdao will continue to collaborate with major cruise companies to create specialized brands integrating with cultural tourism, health and wellness, and sport events to create themed cruises.

Qingdao's unique elements will also be incorporated into cruise tourism products to enhance their appeal, meeting the diverse needs of tourists.
