Qingdao Jiaodong Intl Airport guarantees 1st batch of mangosteens imported

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2024-02-28

A total of 2.4 metric tons of fresh mangosteens were recently transported to Qingdao via flight TR186 from Indonesia, marking the first batch of imported mangosteen guaranteed by Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport since its transfer in 2021.

"This is our first time importing mangosteens, which will all be sold on the local market," said the manager of a freight forwarding company called Haiyuan Shitong.

"We chose Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport due to its multiple flight options, high security levels, and efficient integrated customs clearance services. We will further increase our import efforts based on market demand," the manager added.

As a highly perishable fruit, mangosteens have stringent preservation requirements. To meet these high standards, the airport coordinated with airport customs regarding the transportation of the mangosteens. With the support and guidance of airport customs, they opened a "green channel" for imported fruits, ensuring immediate inspection, verification, and release and guaranteeing "zero delay" in fruit customs clearance and delivery to customers.

Since the beginning of this year, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport has seen an increase in the amount of imported fresh goods, such as mangosteens from Indonesia, cherries from Chile, and lobsters from Canada. In January alone, the airport received a cumulative volume of 611.3 tons of goods, an increase of 324.2 percent year-on-year.
