Qingdao boosts tourism during Spring Festival holiday
Qingdao monitored 70 A-level scenic spots that received a combined of 3.76 million visitors during the Spring Festival holiday from Feb 10 to 17, marking a 118.83 percent year-on-year increase, with operating revenue reaching 84.96 million yuan ($11.83 billion), a 43.54 percent year-on-year increase.
Throughout the city, 57 monitored star-rated hotels saw a 35.43 percent bed occupancy rate, an increase of 6.41 percentage points from the same period last year, with total operating revenue of 31.13 million yuan, a 22.58 percent year-on-year increase.
The city launched a consumption festival on Feb 3, with various districts, cities, and major commercial enterprises focusing on Spring Festival consumption hotspots and carrying out a diverse range of innovative consumer promotion activities. During the eight-day holiday, Qingdao's top 10 commercial enterprises raked in 590 million yuan, a 10.3 percent year-on-year increase.
In response to the festive season, every district and city carried out distinctive consumer promotion activities, offering a variety of experiences for the holiday shopping and dining extravaganza.
For example, Shinan district staged various performances, such as dragon and lion dances, a hotpot festival, and band performances to boost consumption. The Zhongshan Road area saw a total footfall of over 2 million visitors during the holiday.
Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport saw a passenger flow of 85,000 on Feb 14, marking the highest daily passenger flow during the Spring Festival holiday travel period in recent years.
