On Feb 6, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China announced the list of the 21 new national 5A-level tourist attractions across the country. The Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Area, located in Shinan district, Qingdao, Shandong, made the list.
The 5A-level tourist attractions have helped promote regional tourism. In 2011, the Laoshan Scenic Area was approved as a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The successful approval of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Area as a 5A-level attraction is a milestone in the planning and development of the city's tourism industry.
Located in the Shinan district of Qingdao, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Area covers an area of 5.25 square kilometers. As a landmark scenic spot in the coastal city of Qingdao, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Area boasts an abundance of humanistic and natural resources and has developed into an international marine cultural and tourist destination that integrates sailing, seaside leisure, cultural experiences, marine studies, and exhibition tourism.
According to statistics, the tourist area has hosted over 1,000 events throughout the year, receiving over 12 million visitors, and has become a leisure area that embodies a fusion of cultural, commercial, and tourism elements with a distinct marine culture.
