Since the launch of the three-year urban renewal and urban construction campaign, Laixi, a county-level city under the administration of Qingdao, Shandong province, has relied on its urban water systems such as Zhuhe River and Yuehu Lake to connect urban communities with waterfront landscape belts and ecological greenways, allowing people to live a high-quality life.

Laixi is actively benchmarking and learning from Qingdao's advanced experiences in park city development and introducing professional construction teams for the county-level city's urban renewal projects, such as the landscape project on the city's Beijing Road, said the local government.

This project will create four gardens respectively called Spring Water, Summer Mountain, Autumn Forest, and Winter Snow, and will feature check-in points based on the 24 solar terms to meet citizens' needs for leisure, fitness and entertainment.

Laixi also renovated and upgraded Yuehu Park, which was built more than 40 years ago. The park has undergone interface reshaping, improvement of supporting functions, renovation of characteristic buildings and restoration of garden vegetation.

Meanwhile, Laixi has also comprehensively sorted out corners and exposed areas of the city to create pocket parks and three-dimensional green areas with diverse functions. So far, the city has completed 27 three-dimensional greening projects and built 11 pocket parks.
