The world's fourth-largest coastal port and a crucial international trade hub in the West Pacific, Qingdao Port in East China's Shandong province has been actively developing itself into an advanced and eco-friendly port.

Qingdao Port made the headlines in May when it became the first port in China to receive a dual five-star rating for its intelligent and green technology.

Notably, the Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal (QQCT) of Qingdao Port is equipped with world-leading shore power facilities that allow ships to dock without consuming fuel, emitting pollutants, or generating noise.

The first in the country to introduce hydrogen fuel-powered vehicles, the terminal's green efforts have resulted in an annual fuel savings of over 400,000 liters and a reduction of more than 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This has earned the port the prestigious title of "Asia-Pacific Green Port" in 2023.

Qingdao Port has also implemented groundbreaking technologies, including an air transportation system for containers.

In 2022, the port launched its own Automated Terminal Operation System (A-TOS) for container terminals. Boasting functions like millisecond-precise positioning and rapid equipment scheduling, the fully automated container terminal has achieved nine consecutive world records.
