Five cities in the Jiadong Economic Circle in Shandong province kicked off a cultural and tourism promotion event in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province, on Nov 1.

The cities of Qingdao, Yantai, Weifang, Weihai, and Rizhao took to the stage to showcase new scenarios and experiences in diversified and high-quality cultural tourism consumption, giving Hangzhou citizens a deep impression of Jiaodong and realizing cross-regional integration between the two places.

Pan Feng, party secretary and director of the Qingdao municipal culture and tourism bureau, said that in 2020, Qingdao, Yantai, Weifang, Weihai, and Rizhao jointly initiated the establishment of the Jiaodong Economic Circle Cultural Tourism Alliance. The first stop for this Yangtze River Delta promotion was in Hangzhou, which was of great significance to the promotion of the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta and Jiaodong Economic Circles and accelerating the construction of a new development pattern.

Lu Xiaolong, deputy director of the Hangzhou municipal bureau of culture, radio, television and tourism, said that the Jiaodong Economic Circle is the most dynamic and open area in Shandong. Hangzhou is a charming city with a long history and beautiful scenery, and the cultural and tourism attractions of the two places are complementary.

"We hope to take this event as an opportunity to further expand and deepen cooperation in various fields and seek new development ideas for cultural exchanges and integration and the mutually beneficial sharing of resources," Lu said.

To further leverage the cultural tourism attractions and industrial advantages of the enlarged economic circle, a strategic cooperation signing session between the cultural tourism authorities and cultural tourism enterprises of the two places was held on site to promote win-win cooperation and high-level cross-regional coordinated development.
