The convention and exhibition industry in Qingdao, Shandong province is flourishing thanks to the robust recovery of economic activities, as well as the city's successful efforts to introduce and expand high-end exhibitions.

In April, 14 expos and festivals kicked off in Qingdao, including many large-scale exhibitions with a display area exceeding 60,000 square meters.

"Currently, the schedule is full and the types of exhibitions are diverse," said Tao Juan, general manager of the exhibition hall operation company of Qingdao Conson Exhibition Hotel Development Co Ltd.

The Qingdao International Convention Center and the Hongdao International Convention and Exhibition Center have undertaken both consumer goods and trade exhibitions recently. They will host six expos soon, including the 22nd Qingdao International Auto Show.

Built in 2000, the Qingdao International Convention Center in Laoshan district has witnessed the vigorous advancement of Qingdao's convention and exhibition industry. The Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition in the city's West Coast New Area started operation in 2018.

"The Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition's annual exhibition area is expected to surpass its 2019 figure or set a new record since its opening," said Li Hong, general manager of the venue operation branch of Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition International Conference Exhibition Co Ltd.

High-end exhibitions

Qingdao is advancing high-standard, large-scale, and diverse exhibitions with a significant influence at home and abroad.

Supported by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, as well as sponsored by the China Association of Metros, the 2023 Metro Trans will kick off in the Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition from April 27 to 29.

As a key platform for economic and trade cooperation, exchanges, as well as science popularization, the exhibition will display the state-of-the-art technologies, products, and scientific achievements in the field of urban rail transit.

Covering more than 60,000 square meters, it will attract over 400 exhibitors and nearly 30 enterprises, exhibit 12 multi-system vehicles, as well as set up nine professional sections and 14 themed exhibition areas.

There will also be large-scale consumer goods exhibitions, covering an area of more than 60,000 square meters.

The 22nd Qingdao International Auto Show will be held at the Qingdao International Convention Center from April 28 to May 3 and will bring the city under the spotlight again.

During the grand event highlighting cars, technologies, and fashion, automakers will showcase their latest technologies and products with purchase discounts and incredible performances.

Last week, the 2023 Qingdao Digital Culture Application Development Expo, the first of its kind in China, attracted more than 200 industrial leaders, including China Animation Comic Game Group, Tencent, podcast app Himalaya FM, Inspur, Hisense, as well as Alibaba.
