Licun village fair fills with festive air

(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2023-01-17

As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, Qingdao's Licun village fair is crowded with local residents bustling about, purchasing Spring Festival supplies such as red lanterns, "Fu" characters (representing happiness and good luck), couplets, snacks, candies, and flowers.

According to historical records, Licun village fair was first held in 1892, giving it a history of 130 years. In the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it impacted surrounding areas for a hundred miles.

Now, Licun village fair has transformed from a food trading bazaar to a comprehensive market, occupying an area of over 300,000 square meters. It is the largest one of its kind in Qingdao.
