With just a few days to go, this year's marathon will start at Wusi Square, a landmark of Qingdao. Around 25,000 runners will take part in the race, including 7,000 running the full marathon (42.2 km), 12,000 in the half-marathon (21.1 km), and 6,000 braving the mini marathon (5 km).
The race route includes almost all the scenic spots of the coastal city, allowing runners to take in Qingdao's picturesque landscape, red-tiled roofs nestled between green hills and blue sea.
According to the organizing committee, the Qingdao Marathon has grown into a World Athletics labeled event and a gold medal event of the Chinese Athletics Association.
Sponsored by the Qingdao Municipal People's Government, the event will be organized by the Qingdao sports bureau, as well as the Shinan and Laoshan district governments.
